Hello!

The third issue of Motley Magazine (www.uccmotley.ie) I worked on as Fashion & Beauty Editor was another studio shoot, this time done in the amazing Origin Hair Design Academy (www.facebook.com/originhairdesign).
There was no theme really outside of an glamour that wasn't too high maintenance!
The models for the shoot were Mairead and Kayleigh both with Lockdown Models (www.facebook.com/lockdownmodelagency) ,who were styled for the shoot by Alexandra Frahill and the photographer was the amazing Amy Frahill!

This shoot was SO much fun, the team just really gelled and everyone was in a funny kind of mood, which was in no small way helped by the wall of heads-weaing-wigs which sits in the studio.

For the makeup, when I thought glamour, I thought "Red Lip" and so I went with it, adding a glistening, glittery eye in a silvery tone.
I kept the skin light, glowing and defined to allow the lip and eye to stand out.

Both looks were essentially the same makeup, just a few changes to the foundation and concealer shades.

Face was Maybelline's FIT ME Liquid foundation, and concealer.
I contoured using Illamasqua Cream Pigment in "Hollow" and added NARS blush to the cheeks (I think it may have been "Orgasm")
Brows were lightly filled in with MAC "Fling" and/or "Lingering" eyebrow pencils where needed.
On the eyes, I used Urban Decay Primer Potion as a base, then filled in the lid with a silvery/grey liquid glitter I mixed using some glitter sealant/adhesive.
I shaded the socket using Benefit's "Hoola" bronzer, and swept a little mixed with a cooler toned matte brown shadow under the eye.
On the lips, I used a mixture of various MAC lipsticks in varying degrees of red, I know I used "Dubonnet" and "Ruby Woo" as they are near one another in my lip palette haha!
I loaded up a lip brush and really pressed the colour into the lips to create a lived in effect (something I'm quite fond of!) and then defined the edges very slightly with my fingers for a kind of unkempt look without being too trashy.
I finished with a curl of the lashes, a slick of Maybelline Great Lash Mascara and some loose Powder.

Hello!
Continuing with my series of Editorials I worked on as Fashion & Beauty Editor of Motley Magazine, was this fun shoot with Anuzis Photography (www.facebook.com/AnuzisPhotography) and a new alternative model agency called Vanity Vague. (www.vanityvague.com)

This was more of a stylist job for me, though I did do makeup, or rather Male Grooming on model Robert with Vanity Vague using their in-house makeup artist for Ciara's makeup and hair.

For the shoot, I wanted the style to be quite easy but in a punky kind of way, almost like models off duty, quite youthful and fun. Kind of street, I've seen a lot of kids (well people in their early 20's but kids to me!) looking great, really different but not overly done or too try hard, like they just swapped clothes and put on whatever from thrift stores and vintage markets so I tried to capture that.

Robert's tee and bag are both TOPSHOP (obsessed with that shirt!) and his jeans and boots are his own.

For the grooming, I kept it very light with some highlighting concealer under the eyes (a MAC Prep and Prime product!) and used a regular concealer on any redness etc. (MAC Studio Finish in NC15).
I emphasized Robert's already amazing cheekbones, the contour of the eyes and around the perimeter of the face using Illamasqua's "Disobey" powder blush and smoothed a small amount of the highlighting concealer I'd used under the eyes onto the top of the cheekbones and along the bridge of the nose. I also patted a small amount on the inner corners of the eye to brighten that area a little.
For brows I used a little Illamasqua Clear Brow Gel (fantastic budge proof product, highly recommend!) then curled Rob's lashes, not using mascara or anything as I felt it was unnecessary.

Motley Editorials

Hello!
So it's that time of the month again, (not not that one) where I decide to blog, hopefully I won't become to distracted halfway through this post and just abandon it like...well every single every other blog I've ever had.

I've been thinking about things to post for ages and sometimes the best thing is the most obvious, so I thought I'd talk, or write as it were, through some of the looks I've done working as the Fashion & Beauty Editor of Motley Magazine!

I'll start from my first full editorial, which was shot by the fantastic Romona Mueller (www.facebook.com/Ramona-Mueller-Fotografie), styled by Sarah Corcoran (www.facebook.com/SarahCorcoranStylist) and featuring two lovely models Katie and Nathalie.
Sarah's has an amazing eye and the pieces she brings to a shoot are always individual and brilliantly thought out.
The location for the shoot was Fota Island's amazing gardens, just a stunning place.
The brief for this was a light, summery feeling with a hint of an edge so I kept the makeup following this theme but with a strong, stained red lip.

This first look (such a great shoot) was started by prepping the skin with a rich moisturizer, I'm a fan of  Embryolisse's Lait Creme Concentrate, which creates a fabulous smooth base. I then buffed Illamasqua's Skin Base Foundation in shade Number 7 onto Nathalie's skin using a Real Techniques Buffing Brush. The foundation is about a shade and a half darker than Nathalie's skin but is very lightweight so managed to warm up the skin without looking too full on "bronze".
For concealer I used a mixture from a Bobbi Brown palette, I'm not too sure of the exact shades, sorry!
I used a Tom Ford Brow Sculptor and some clear brow gel to keep brows defined but natural.
On the eyes, I began by smoothing a small amount of Urban Decay Primer Potion from the lash line to the brow bone as this really helps to even out the skin tone on the eyes.
I then moved on to a Maybelline Color Tattoo in "Pink Gold" using this all over the lid, then contoured the eye using a small amount of Hoola Bronzer (by Benefit) through the crease.
I can't quite remember the name of the shimmery shadow I used on the lid over the Maybelline cream shadow but I believe it is in my MAC "Wedding" palette (maybe "All That Glitters"?)
I used a very light coating of mascara and combed through with a disposable mascara wand to create a semi-clumped effect, really trying to keep with the low key feel of the clothing and location.
I used a mixture of NARS blushes on the cheeks with a tiny amount of Illamasqua's "Disobey" to give a light contour.
I wanted the lips to have a slightly "lived-in" feel as I felt a perfectly angular lip line would have looked odd next to the floaty fashion so I pressed some of MAC's Dubonnet into the lips using my fingers and lightly defined the edges using the same shade on a Real Techniques Detailer Brush.
I pressed a little extra lipstick into the center of the lips to create depth.
I finished the look with a very light dusting of a Chanel loose powder all over the face as the day was quite hot and we were shooting in what was basically a greenhouse so temperatures were high!

For the second look, I essentially used the same products, except for using a little "Pink Opal" pigment by MAC in the inner corners of the eye and a deeper shade of foundation as a contour rather than the powder of "Disobey" as it was more fitting with Katie's skin type.

Hope that's been of some interest, and perhaps even a little helpful in choosing products.
Please do check out the links for everyone involved as they are all fantastic.
